With the recent boom in the aircraft industry and lot of licensed airplanes competing for space in air, this program has been one of the favorites among students who want to grab a share of that glory. Training for the AME course at IAME has been approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The AME license examination is conducted by the DGCA, Government of India. The duration of the training at the institute is 3 years, over six semesters and followed by one semester (six months) of post institutional Apprenticeship in a DGCA approved flying clubs, airlines or aircraft operators.

The student has to obtain a license from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering in the country. This course is a license based course, to be offered only by DGCA approved and recognized Institutes. The minimum eligibility criteria for getting admission into the institutes are 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics or Diploma in engineering.
